Crystal & Company Holds Collection Drive for Goodwill NYNJ
This past Holiday season and for the second year in a row, the employees of Crystal and Company held a clothing donation drive at their downtown Manhattan offices to support the mission of Goodwill NYNJ. They collected more than seventy bags of mostly professional clothing for both men and women. According to the company’s website, “for eighty years, Crystal & Company has been a global leader in insurance and risk management solutions.”
The mission of Goodwill NYNJ is to empower individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.
So, how do donations of clothing and household goods support the mission of Goodwill?
Our Goodwill stores sell the items we collect as donations. Sales proceeds from our Goodwill stores then fund the services we offer free of charge to community residents who need to find work. By helping find jobs for individuals who are unemployed or underemployed, we help to stimulate economic activity locally. People who earn a salary spend money in all the
things they need. It’s a positive cycle.
Goodwill NYNJ regularly partners with residential and commercial buildings, colleges, nonprofit organizations and corporations to collect unwanted clothing, household goods, and electronics. Last year, Goodwill NYNJ helped area residents to divert more than 112 million pounds of usable goods from local landfills.
