Jobs-Plus program participants tour tech companies in the South Bronx
Last week, members of Jobs-Plus program in the Bronx went on a Tech Tour of several companies located at the South Bronx.
Jobs Plus is operated by Goodwill NYNJ and offers job training and employment support for residents of the Clason Point, Sack Wern and Monroe New York City Housing Authority developments.
In Per Scholas, program participants learned about their free 8-14 week IT training. Many of the Jobs-Plus participants completed applications to begin training at Per Scholas in the fall.
Then in Start Up Box, they met young people who are working as Quality Assurance Testers in the Hunts Point location. The staff members of the Start Up Box team introduced themselves, described how they got started and gave advice on how to get started. Already, a Job-Plus participant has been hired at Start Up box as a Quality Assurance tester.
This trip was sponsored in partnership with NY state Assembly member Marcos Crespo.
