citiview logo-01On January 29, Citiview Connections Clubhouse, a member-run program for individuals with mental illness, celebrated its 20th anniversary. This program, which is operated by Goodwill NY-NJ, actually opened on December 1994 in Long Island City, Queens. To celebrate this important landmark, the members of Citiview, an Internationally Accredited clubhouse, hosted more than eighty guests for an open-house to inform community residents of the services the Goodwill program offers.

New York City Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer, majority leader of this body, toured the program and offer welcoming remarks to guest to start a program to celebrate Citiview.

The mission of Citiview is to provide support and opportunities to help members achieve their social, financial, educational, and vocational goals, and to eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness, substance use, sexual orientation, and homelessness. Citiview is a program operated by Goodwill NY-NJ.

“We aim to establish quality Transitional Employment positions within the community for Citiview members,” said Russ Rotten, director of Goodwill’s Citiview Connections Clubhouse.

Business partners that contributed with sponsorships for the event included: COFFEED, which catered the event and provided to raffle prizes, a $100 Gift Certificate and 2 bags of their hand crafted coffee. Mundo Restaurant at The Paper Factory Hotel donated 2 $50 Gift Certificates for the raffle. Via Caramico,Precision Custom Picture Framing donated a $100 Gift Certificate toward a framing. La Guli Pastries donated 2 $20 gift certificates.
