A New York State law kicks in January 2015 that forbids residents from curbside disposal of e-waste. New Yorkers are required to recycle TVs, monitors, computers, laptops, small servers, printers/scanners, tablets/e-readers, MP3 players, VCRs/DVRs/DVD players, fax machines, video game consoles, cable/satellite boxes, mice and keyboards. Violators will be ticketed and fined.
We hope you’ll turn to Goodwill as a solution. Individuals and families are invited to bring your unwanted electronics to any of our stores and receive a donation receipt. If you’re not near us, you can visit the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation website http://www.dec.ny.gov/chemical/66872.html or the New York City Department of Sanitation website http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycwasteless/html/stuff/harmful_hh_prod_electronics.shtml for other ideas.
