No child should be hungry this summer.

Did you know that the Summer Meals program provides free meals to children under 18 across the five boroughs of New York City every summer? There are hundreds of sites children can visit to get their free meal!

This summer’s program will begin Friday June 27 and continue through Friday August 29.

The best part? The only thing children have to do is show up! There is no need to present identification or to register for the program.

In addition to the hundreds of meal locations, the program will have four mobile food trucks offering meals seven days a week throughout the summer. The sites include:

  • Orchard Beach in the Bronx
  • Main Street Library in Flushing, Queens
  • Flushing Meadow Park Zoo Parking Lot in Queens
  • Roosevelt Avenue in Corona, Queens

To find a location nearest you, visit the Summer Meals Site Locator or text “NYCMeals” to 877-877.

Goodwill supports programs like the Summer Meals Program that help children in the area.

In addition to individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment that we serve, we strive to offer programs that keep youth on track to a brighter future.

During the school year, Goodwill offers youth mentoring programs and afterschool services.

We offer free summer camps in more than ten locations in Brooklyn and Queens. For instance, Goodwill runs the Out of School Time (OST) Program for 6th, 7th and 8th graders in Jackson Heights, Queens.

The program includes fun activities such as sports, robotics, cheerleading, music and gardening! Breakfast and lunch are provided daily.

Participants will also go on weekly field trips around New York City. Some of our favorite field trips include a visit to Adventureland or a trip to a Yankees Game!

Although she loves jogging along Lake Michigan and exploring the Windy City, her heart lies back home in New Jersey where pizza is the right shape and bagels are a delicacy. This summer, she’s back in the Big Apple interning and blogging with Goodwill Industries before she heads off to Seville, Spain to study abroad for the fall semester.
