During April, Autism Awareness month, we were proud to celebrate the achievements of the individuals who participate in Bridges to Success and Project Possibilities. These two Goodwill programs serve individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders who live in the five boroughs of New York City.
But to culminate the month-long celebration, Goodwill held an event at the Project Possibilities Brooklyn location on Friday, April 25. During the art show, the program participants performed a drumming piece called “The Talents.” For weeks, they had prepared under the direction of music instructor Steve Swell from Hospital Audiences, Inc.
Using tambourines and small hand drums, the individuals practiced interactive drumming sessions. They learned different beats & sounds by calling and responding to one another. They gained confidence by practicing free style in front of their peers.
