Did you know that January is National Youth Mentoring Month?
So, if among your New Year’s resolutions you included volunteering, this is your lucky day! Join GoodGuides™ Youth Mentoring Program.
GoodGuides™, the Youth Mentoring program of Goodwill NY-NJ, is part of a national mentoring program that helps 12-17 year-old youth finish school and transition into productive careers through the guidance of trusted adults.
GoodGuides™ seeks to help teens avoid school failure, juvenile delinquency, family violence and other challenges. Goodwill’s long history of helping people find jobs and its emphasis on building strong families makes it a good match for this program.
Goodwill recruits, vets, and trains adults from the community to volunteer as program mentors. The mentor selection process includes a brief interview, background check, a 1-hour orientation and 2-hour training sessions. During training, potential mentors learn about the program guidelines, mentoring Do’s and Don’ts, and suggested activities.
Goodwill has a long history of helping people find work and making sure that families are strong. Through GoodGuides, we offer youth mentoring services to help at-risk teens in our community get on the right path, away from trouble and toward a better future. That’s good for everyone involved.
If you would like to mentor youth in your community or know of teens who could benefit from the GoodGuides™ services, please call (718) 777-6441 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
