We are in the Holidays “home stretch!” This year’s Holiday season, which started with a late Thanksgiving Day less than a month ago, compressed the time of the year when friends gather in parties to wish each other well and to express their affection with gifts.

Here at Goodwill NY-NJ, we held our traditional Holiday luncheons for our Work Centers program participants. For over two decades, staff has served lunch to our participants at both the Astoria, NY and Harrison, NJ headquarters.

On Tuesday, December 17, elected and appointed officials joined staff and participants in Harrison. VIPs included Jeff Stoller, Assistant Commissioner, NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development; Brian Murray, Director, NJ Department of Labor and Workforce Development; Councilman Anselmo Milan, Town of Harrison; and Jeff Kahn, Executive Director, Palisades Regional Academy.

And program participants and senior residents from the Two Coves community, the neighborhood where our Astoria campus have been located since 1968 in Queens, sat to have lunch to celebrate the Holidays on Thursday, December 20. Everyone enjoyed turkey with all the trimmings, and assorted desserts. Then, everyone joined in for some caroling.
