Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving

As we prepare to go home to spend Thanksgiving Day with family and friends, we’d pause to thank you for your continuous support. Without you, Goodwill NY-NJ could not have served 81,672 people and place 8,476 individuals in jobs last year. We aim to serve and place many more this year!

When you shop at our Goodwill stores, you help us fund the programs that serve your community. We are grateful for your purchases. In times of decreased public funding, we rely on your financial and in-kind donations.

We leave you with some images of our traditional Thanksgiving Day luncheon. For over twenty years, staff members from all departments traditionally serve meals to guests at our Astoria headquarters. This is an opportunity for our participants to socialize with their peers and staff alike. For some of them, Goodwill staff is their only support system. We want to make sure every program participant has an opportunity to feel at home here at Goodwill.

On Thanksgiving 2005, a Holiday tradition at Goodwill’s Astoria headquarters began when New York State Assembly member Cathy Nolan asked our Goodwill to distribute turkeys for senior residents on her behalf. Our Youth and Community Development division invites elderly residents from the Two Coves community to join our program participants for Goodwill’s Thanksgiving luncheon.

Check out pictures of the luncheon here.

Our stores are closed today for the Thanksgiving but we have plenty of holidays sales going on all weekend long.

Have a healthy and happy Holiday and travel safely!
