Goodwill Amsterdam Store is Named 2013 Employer of the Year
Liberty’s Career and Employment Network has chosen Goodwill’s Super Store and Donation Center in Amsterdam, NY as the 2013 Employer of the Year for its continued commitment to hiring persons with disabilities. This recognition is done in conjunction with National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October.
The Career & Employment Network has presented this award to local employers for the past 21 years.
“Our organization, and others throughout the nation, celebrates the abilities of people we support and the employers who assist us in that endeavor,” wrote Michael Decker, Chief Executive Officer of Career & Employment Network, in a letter to Goodwill. “I would like to thank you for accommodating the people in the CEN program by providing a safe, friendly and accepting work environment.”

Martha Jackson is Recognized for Commitment to DMD
Last week, during the closing reception for Disability Mentoring Day, Victor Calise, Commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, recognized Martha Jackson, Goodwill Director New Initiatives & Business Partnerships, for her commitment and leadership in organizing Disability Mentoring Day.
A tireless advocate for individuals with disabilities, Ms. Jackson has contributed to the local edition of the nation-wide annual event for the past eight years. She joined the DMD committee while heading Goodwill’s VIP program, which places individuals who are visually impaired in jobs.
