Congratulations to the Peer Advocacy Leadership Staff who graduated and/or received recognition at the Creedmoor Peer Academy last month. The Creedmoor Peer Academy involves a six month training with internship. We’re very proud of our graduates and our award winner – and even more excited that four of those graduates have moved onto become GoodwillNyNj employees!
The Peer Advocacy Leadership Program (PAL) is a consumer-run mental health program assisting individuals in learning self-advocacy, teaching how to access community-based resources and generally encouraging the development of independent living skills.
As Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc., we’re especially pleased to share that our recent graduates are also new hires. Of our four hires, two have been placed in management positions: Malika Mohamedi (Program Manager of the PAL Program) and Cindy Rodriguez (Senior Peer Advocate). The other two graduates, Monique Velluit and Nivedita Kumar will become Goodwill employees as well. Jennifer NG was also recognized for completing the benefit training.
The Peer Academy is a six month training at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center followed by a month-long internship. The program address issues of Group Facilitation, Culture Competency, Financial Wellness, Health Homes, Alcoholism, Wellness Training, Dual Diagnosis, SSI/SSDI, WRAP Training and Housing.
