Thank you, Schwab! For the second year in a row, thirty Schwab employees who live and work in the New York City metropolitan area, including Northern NJ, and Long Island, came to GoodwillNyNj’s Astoria headquarters to volunteer on Tuesday, May 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“Thank you for inviting us back to volunteer here at Goodwill. We hope this effort becomes a tradition,” said Tom Cantillon, Director, Schwab New York Metro Region. Mr. Cantillon and Keith Huber, Investor Services Schwab NY metro region, presented Bill Forrester, GoodwillNyNj CEO, with a $500 gift on behalf of Schwab’s NY region, to support Goodwill’s mission of empowering individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.
The Schwab volunteers worked in 4 different areas: sorting and hanging in the Retail production area, working alongside program participants in the Work Center, scanning books and loading boxes in eCommerce, gardening and playing games with PROS participants. They interacted and worked alongside individuals with developmental, physical and psychiatric disabilities. As a final project, the volunteers and program participants painted a mural to mark the occasion.
