Goodwill Industries International (GII) has been selected as a finalist in The Charles Schwab Corporation’s video contest in honor of its 2013 Volunteer Week!
We hope you’ll help us with your vote! To vote for Goodwill, please visit the Charles Schwab Facebook page: www.facebook.com/CharlesSchwab
If GII receives the most votes, The Charles Schwab Corporation will grant Goodwill $10,000 to help support our ongoing critical job training programs. Other charities in the contest include Boys & Girls Club of America, The Salvation Army and Teach for America.
Each organization has posted a video on the Schwab Community Services Contest tab of the Charles Schwab Facebook page describing the mission of the organization and the people it serves. You can see Goodwill’s at: https://www.facebook.com/CharlesSchwab/app_393613750735668
Our video features Jim Barnette, Goodwill’s 2012 Achiever of the Year. Jim Barnette has multiple disabilities, including being legally blind and having mild quadriplegia as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage in infancy. He is happy and successful as a result of his long-standing tenure as an employee for Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette (Portland, OR).
Voting is open until Sunday, May 26, at midnight. Runners-up will receive smaller grants for their participation ($5,000 for second place, $2,000 for third place and $1,000 for fourth place). Of course, our ultimate goal is to receive the $10,000 grant! With your help, we feel we’ve got a great chance.
