YOUTH SERVICES:

  • Employment Specialist – QUEENS  (Full Time): The Employment Specialist is responsible for developing relationships with medical-related businesses and organizations within New York City, Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island. These relationships will lead to Goodwill placing our recent graduates into open positions, as well as carry out the retention process. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: Bachelors Degree required and 1+ year(s) experience working within any of the following: sales, recruitment, business development, administration, human resources, non-profit, human services; current, valid NYS Driver’s license; willing to travel locally; has vehicle or working knowledge of MTA; strong computer and administrative skills; applicant must have working proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook; ability to learn and adapt to new computer programs: experience using Prove-It is preferred, not mandatory; we will train if not experiencee; excellent written, verbal, communication skills; strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to be a team player as well as able to work independently, complete tasks in timely manner; must be assertive and a self-starter, and able to prioritize work accordingly; candidate should be detail-minded and be able to engage in a dynamic performance environment; must be flexible and able to respond to the changing needs of the program. Special Working Conditions: Office is located in Jamaica, Queens. Travel around Queens, NYC, and Western Long Island is required; position is fulltime, and may include extended work hours on nights and/or weekends as program dictates.   • Group Leader – BROOKLYN/QUEENS (Part Time): Provide cultural and recreational activities to program participants that include physical activities and quiet games; work directly with all participants during assigned day; assist children with their homework; supervise children on trips and during transportation from area schools; maintain safety at all times. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: minimum requirement – High School student, College Student a plus; have one year experience in working with youth and physical education; effective communication skills in dealing with children, parents, co-workers and supervisors; CPR/First Aide certification desired; compliance required for NYC Department of Health and NYC Department of Education hiring policies Special Working Conditions: must be able to work in limited areas in the school building.   • Administrative Assistant BROOKLYN/QUEENS (Part Time): Provide personal clerical support to the Director and overall Program. Duties include general clerical, receptionist and project based work. Project a professional company image through in-person and phone interaction. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: HS Diploma/GED minimum education required; some College a plus as well as some clerical experience; bi-lingual plus; duties require professional verbal and written communication skills and the ability to type; visibility of work requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills; MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook skills required; must be willing to learn new computer applications; must be able to handle multiple tasks; must work as a team player; must be able to use common office machines (fax, copier); compliance required for NYC Department of Health and NYC Department of Education hiring policies.   • Tutor  (Part Time) BROOKLYN/QUEENS (Part Time): Provide cultural and recreational activities to program participants that include physical activities and quiet games; establish the importance of academic achievement and college with the children. Qualifications: minimum requirement – High School student, College Student a plus; effective communication skills in dealing with children, parents, co-workers and supervisors; CPR/First Aide certification desired; compliance required for NYC Department of Health and NYC Department of Education hiring policies.   • Security Officer BROOKLYN/QUEENS (Part Time): Will maintain a safe and secure environment for participants and staff at the program site; create and oversee all school safety issues pertinent to program operations. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: minimum requirement – 8 and 16 hour NYS Security License as well as Fire Guard training; BS in Criminal Justice desired or in related field plus 1 year of related experience; bi-lingual a plus; CPR/First Aide certification desired. HUMAN SERVICES:

  • Activity Instructor (Day Services)  BROOKLYN/QUEENS (Part Time): Activity Instructors work in conjunction with Habilitation Specialists to plan unique activities and groups utilizing the visual arts, performance arts, music, wellness, and / or physical movement as mediums to help Individuals attain skills & achieve goals specified in their Habilitation Plans. Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: HS diploma / GED required; at least 1 year experience in area of relevant specialty required; BA preferred; work experience in the field of mental health, vocational rehabilitation, or education / teaching preferred; excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills needed; ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Special Working Conditions: Frequent travel to various program sites required.
