Most of you know of our stores and great finds. And, if you’re a fan of this blog, you know of our programs and services. But did you know that Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc. also offers other business opportunities, on-the-job training and real paycheck-earning work for populations facing barriers to employment? Our Industrial Contracts Division does just that!
GoodwillNyNj’s Industrial Contracts Division serves as training ground and place of employment for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Work includes janitorial, sewing, motor messenger, recycling, cable cutting, and assembly and packaging contracts.
This month, Hershey’s stepped up and signed Goodwill for a project from our Harrison location through Urban Samaritan. We’ve heard back from Hershey’s – they were very impressed by the work that was done, so impressed, in fact, that they sent on a 25-pound box of assorted mini-chocolates for their gratitude!
Thank you Hershey’s, and thank you to all our fantastic workers for your outstanding work. We are so proud to have you on our team!
Here at GoodwillNyNj, we employ workers with disabilities and other barriers to employment. Through their work on our contracts, they earn a paycheck, entering the economic mainstream, some for the very first time in their lives.
Through our Industrial Contracts Division, our workers become independent and develop pride and independence through a job well done.
