While we were posting on Goodwill’s Sandy Relief efforts, another great cause was being attended to: this past November’s Goodwill Suits Vets.
On Veterans Day weekend, to honor and to thank all U.S. veterans for their service to our country, Goodwill NY-NJ provided free professional, work and retirement clothing worth over $20,300 to more than 400 vets who went to any of our 40 area Goodwill stores. From Saturday to Monday, November 10-12, staff from our Goodwill stores helped a steady stream of vets who came with their buddies or family.
“Goodwill Suits Vets is a thoughtful way to support our Veterans—it’s a partnership between the public and Goodwill, working together to say thank you for your service,” noted William Forrester, President and CEO of Goodwill. “We also hope Veterans will take advantage of some of our other services, including Good Temps: our temporary staffing division for individuals who want to explore work options.”
During this year’s three Goodwill Suits events, Goodwill NY-NJ gave away over $65,000 worth of work ready-to-wear merchandise to more than 1,400 vets. We are committed to helping smooth the path to civilian life for our vets and their families. See you in next year’s Goodwill Suits Vets!
