If you’re in the NYC area and happen to be a Mets and/or donuts fan, we’ve got a great way for you to help others while helping yourself: this Friday August 3rd Goodwill’s Beacon 141 is holding a Blood Drive with Long Island Blood Services from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Anyone who donates blood at Friday’s Blood Drive will receive two free Mets tickets, and the first 50 who donate will receive a $5 Dunkin Donuts gift card.
The Blood Drive is part of our Summer of Service five-week program, a program which also included free CPR lessons and First Aid instruction for Jr. High and High School students earlier this summer.
FYI: Beacon 141 is one of the five Beacon programs managed by the Youth Services Division of Goodwill Industries. Goodwill also operates two satellite centers which are housed in New York City Housing Developments in Brooklyn.
Operating from Intermediate School 141, the central purpose of Goodwill’s Beacon 141 program is to provide its participants with a safe haven full of unique opportunities. In a safe and loving environment, Goodwill’s Beacon 141 stresses the total development of an individual, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.
This school based community program offers free services to elementary, middle and high school students as well as adults. Beacon 141 is located at 37-11 21st Avenue, Astoria, NY 11105.
