Beacon 141 is bustlin’ this June! Not only is graduation tomorrow (Congratulations!!!), but the program has also been selected by the NY Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) to participate in an overnight stay at the Museum of Natural History later this month.
As part of the Museum of Natural History overnight, 15 middle schoolers will get to experience a side of one of New York’s greatest treasures few others know. The Hall of Ocean Life containing the Blue Whale mounted to the ceiling will be their campground. The students will go back in time as they search through the Mesozoic Era during a fossil hunt surrounded by Dinosaurs. They’ll journey into space during a show in the Hayden Planetarium. They’ll learn about Wild Life as they meet a real Wolf named Atka. They’ll meet a scientist that works at the museum.
Over the course of the unforgettable evening, they’ll participate in many fun activities, but most of all they will be part of an amazing bonding moment between each other, other young people, and their mentors.
Imagine the value of a night like this to these Goodwill Beacon kids – incredible. That is the value of your donations. Thank you for making our programs possible through your support.
