It’s officially time to Let It Go! Gap and Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey have announced a partnership encouraging consumers to clean out their closets for a cause. From May 19-29, Gap stores in the United States and Canada will accept clothing donations to support the Donate Movement, an effort powered by Goodwill to educate the public on the positive impact donations can have on both people and the planet.
When consumers donate clothing to Gap stores during this time period, their donations will be given to Goodwill NY-NJ and then sold in its 39 stores. To thank customers for their generous donations, donors will receive 30-percent off their entire Gap purchase, including regularly priced and sale items.
Donations to Goodwill support its mission of providing job training programs and employment placement services to the people who need them most. GoodwillNyNj places 7 people in jobs every hour of every business day. The Agency directs 93 cents out of each dollar it generates, to serve New Yorkers in need. Goodwill kept 48 million pounds of usable clothing and household goods out of landfills in 2010.
