Yesterday Congressman Edolphus “Ed” Towns was honored with the 2011 Goodwill Industries International Policymaker Award at Goodwill’s Back to Work program right here in Brooklyn. Ed was given this national award because of his consistent demonstrated support of Goodwill and our organization’s job training programs.
A few months back, we nominated Rep. Towns for his commitment to the people of New York, supporting legislation to make sure New Yorkers could receive employment training and get back to work. He also continues to push for the needs and rights of people with disabilities, most significantly in the area of training and employment opportunities.
Live in New York? Come check us out – we offers employment support services for welfare applicants and recipients at the borough’s Back to Work program. We also provide retail training and employment for young adults with autism through our Project Possibilities program. Other Goodwill workforce development programs serve refugees and recent immigrants and individuals with mental disabilities and other disadvantages. You can see, there’s a whole lot of Goodwill going on right in your neighborhood – all thanks to the readers, shoppers, and supporters who help make it happen!
