Healthcare is one of today’s most dynamic and growing fields, with a wide range of opportunities and challenges. With this in mind, we’re thrilled to announce GoodwillNyNj’s new Medical Office Assistant (MOA) Occupation Training Program in conjunction with CUNY Queensborough Community College (QCC).
GoodwillNyNj and Queensborough Community College are teaming up to help New Yorkers succeed.
GoodwillNyNj’s QCC-MOA program will provide unemployed and displaced workers with a free education in the medical industry, immediate job opportunities upon completion, and Retention Services.
Through a course of study based on career mapping, academic skills, and the attainment of national credentials, we will fully support students with wrap-around services during and after employment, helping students navigate college and the transition to the workplace.
Students in the QCC-MOA program will learn the fundamentals necessary to be a Medical Office Assistant, will engage in hands-on clinicals & internships, and will work with professionals to develop networking and transitional skills.
Minimum Requirements for the program are as follows:
- 18 years of age (preference given to age 24+)
- Displaced or Unemployed (if on unemployment, please let us know ahead of time)
- Is a New York State Resident
- Is authorized to work in the U.S.
- Has a High School Diploma or GED
- Not currently enrolled or matriculated in a CUNY program
Our wrap-around support services will help guide students through the program, offering academic remediation, academic advisement, career counseling/coaching, tutoring, job search help and retention assistance.
After the 1-year program, students will have the option to continue taking courses with QCC and will be in close contact with the Goodwill staff to transition from education into the workforce.
