The Goodwill DMD Fashion Show

Finding the right outfit to wear on your first day at work can be a daunting task. If you’ve never had a job before, or have a disability, it can be especially difficult. Well, Goodwill’s here to help!

In honor of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey has teamed up with the New York City Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities to stage a fashion show and seminar on what outfits are most appropriate for people to wear in their chosen career.

The show will be styled by 5 well-known fashion bloggers at Goodwill’s East Harlem Store today starting at 5:30pm! You can RSVP by contacting (646)-576-3485 or JPOYERD@cityhall.nyc.gov (please note: you must have a reservation to attend).

If you can’t make it today, though, we’ll be sure to post photos of the looks after it’s wrapped on this blog, A Good Look by GoodwillNyNj, Facebook and Twitter.

Our stylists include fashion thrift bloggers:

Models participating in Disability Mentoring Day (DMD)* (an annual event that pairs students and job seekers with disabilities with mentors to help them explore career opportunities) will appear in a runway show wearing outfits selected by the bloggers from the merchandise in local Goodwill Stores. Models will be able to keep their outfits after the show to wear for interviews or on the job.

Thank you all for your support! After all, who knows - your most recent donation could empower a person to score the job of her dreams!
